HMS MORRIS
BIOGRAPHY
Lead by singer Heledd Watkins (Marcella and The Forget Me Nots, Emmy The Great and Chloe Howl) and completed by Sam Roberts and Wil Roberts (Mwsog and Wilma Sands), HMS Morris released their first single on Blinc Records in 2014 – I Grind My Teeth / I Dream of the Diner. After two years working between Llanymddyfri, Cardiff and London and developing their style, the band’s heart came to rest in Cardiff by embracing their psychedelic Welsh heritage, with mind-blowing hooky melodies warped by rebellious synth loops and unexpected vocal harmonies. The band’s intimate live performances in festivals such as Sŵn Festival achieve a cheerful atmosphere, delivering from soft and relaxed songs to energetic rhythms to take you on a voyage like no other.
In April 2015 HMS Morris was announced as one of the 12 artist selected for the Horizons project by BBC Cymru Wales for 2015.
“Pulsing and brooding, HMS Morris’ cinematic electro pop is devilishly and deliciously unhinged. For those who like Bjork levels of quirkiness, Melody’s Echo Chamber-like dreamscapes and a woman who rivals Kate Bush for mascara-smeared caterwauling, then anchor this ship of cool to your heart.”
